TRAINING ACTIVITIES

INFORMATION TO BE HOSTED IN TWAD WEBSITE RELATED TO TRAINING CENTRES OF TWAD BOARD

 Introduction:

The training wing of TWAD Board is vested with the responsibilities of Planning, Organizing and conducting training courses on the Water Supply and Drainage sector for TWAD Board staff. A separate training wing has been established in TWAD Board in 1983 to train the Board staff.

The main Training Centre is situated at Chennai, Head Office and other 3 Training Sub Centres are situated at Madurai, Coimbatore and Trichy . The aim of the Training Centres is to provide In-house Training to all staff members working (inclusive of technical and non-technical) in TWAD Board.

In addition, National Refresher Courses sponsored and funded by the CPHEEO, Ministry of Urban Development, GOI is being conducted every year, from 1990 onwards for the Senior and middle level officers deputed from Water supply and Sanitation Departments all over India. Every year 150 to 200 Engineers, Water Analysts, Hydro Geologists of TWAD Board are deputed to the National Refresher Courses Conducted all over India. In addition, UNICEF Sponsored training Programmes are conducted by TWAD Board.

 Governing Council:

The Annual Training Plan for each Training centre and the Budget proposals are placed before the Governing Council every year and approved by the Governing Council Consisting of the following Members

 Managing Director, TWAD Board - Chairman
 Engineering Director, TWAD Board - Member
 Finance Director, TWAD Board - Member
 Joint Chief Engineer, PDC in Charge of Training - Member
 Deputy Chief Engineer – Training - Member Secretary

 Training Methodology:

Depending on the requirements of the programme, the participants are provided a combination of theoretical and practical inputs.

The following methodologies are used for training:

     Class room lectures

     Audio-Visual presentation

     Case studies

     Field visits

     Group discussions

 Training-Infrastructure:

The Training Centres of TWAD are equipped with

        Air conditioned Lecture halls with a seating capacity of 40 participants

        Computers with internet connection,

        LCD Projector & Over Head projector.

 Resource persons:

Experience and qualified resource persons are drafted from other organisation apart from utilizing the services of the TWAD Board personnel, for imparting training.

Retired Engineers from TWAD, CMWSS Board, PWD and other Engineers engaged in Private consultancy service are also invited to deliver lectures.

 Library:

A Library is functioning at IV th floor of TWAD House, attached to the training centre and about 2300 Technical, Management, Computer, Law and ISI books. Technical Journals, Course material of various training programmes conducted by TWAD Board, Workshop proceedings etc., are available in the Library for reference.
